Peoples Church

Founded 118 years ago by four Michigan State faculty members, the Peoples Church was East Lansing’s first Protestant congregation and remains interdenominational today. Its current building, completed in 1927, has had only minimal updates aside from major repairs after a 1965 fire and a 1988 lightning strike.

WIELAND is leading a major renovation that includes 6,000 SF of work on the social hall and sanctuary, installation of four new air conditioning units, and four air handlers to revamp the current mechanical system. Construction has continued without interruption, demonstrating WIELAND’s expertise in working within occupied facilities while preserving the church’s historic presence on campus.
