Iowa Army Ammunition Plant Ground Break

WIELAND, in partnership with MSM North America, has officially begun construction on the Future Artillery Complex (FAC) at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington, IA, advancing one of the U.S. Army’s most important modernization initiatives for large-caliber ammunition production.

The project follows the 2025 award to the MSM North America team and WIELAND’s selection to construct the operational facility. Once operational, the FAC will replace a production line that has served the Army for more than five decades and will have the capacity to produce 36,000 loaded 155mm artillery projectiles each month.

The groundbreaking ceremony on July 15 marked an important milestone in the growing partnership between WIELAND and MSM North America, as well as continued investment in the future of U.S. defense manufacturing. The event was attended by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and multiple U.S. Army generals, underscoring the national significance of the project and the important work ahead.

As construction begins, WIELAND is proud to help bring the FAC 2.0 project to life and deliver a facility built to serve the nation for decades to come.
